A talk based therapy that seeks to go beneath the waterline of what's going on for you, exploring the relationships between that and any developmental or family experiences or trauma. We would look for patterns and connections in anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, defensive behaviours, work or relationship issues. Applied psychotherapy focuses on the power of awareness and understanding. The more you have, the more you can use it to change and adapt.
Applying leading edge research and applications of neuro-biology and neuro-cognitive therapies to help you feel resourced and confident to work with what's going on for you. This highly focused and creative approach is especially effective for working with anxiety, trauma and with shame and identity issues. It works very well for anxiety specific therapies, where we are looking to shift thoughts and behaviours in 4-8 sessions.
This approach combines talking therapy and direct body work. The foundation of this work is the belief that everything we experience, for better and for worse, is held in the body and the body systems. Through bio-physical movement * and breath work, we can release some of the emotional 'holding' and unlock more energy for feeling and living well.
* Bio-physical work is not suitable for everybody. See the FAQ for more information.
Relationship dynamics that get cooked up together over time can be helped with therapy. I work in a kind and exacting way to help people change their relationship for the better. The aim of relationship therapy isn't to keep people together, though sometimes it does that. It can also be very helpful in ending a relationship on better terms, especially if there are children involved. People don't need to be in crisis to benefit from relationship therapy. It can tweak some issues and optimise a fundamentally healthy relationship. Please visit the FAQ for more information if you are considering relationship therapy.
