I combine clinical work in psychotherapy with behaviour change consultancy. Its a good balance, and the one continues to help shape the other for the better.
Like many therapists, I came to this work as other life experiences taught me more about myself, my values, and how I wanted to be of use in the world.
I began with a humanities BA, an art MA, a PhD in social psychology, an early academic teaching career and later, one in social research that took me all over the world. Eventually, after a lot of work on myself, my curiosity for people and their capacity to change came together and I trained as a psychotherapist in 2014.
Over the years, I have built on that solid foundation, doing an intense 3 year training in psychodynamic and body psychotherapy (working with body and mind together) in the USA. I trained in a contemporary form of Reichian body psychotherapy. Wilhelm Reich was a former student of Sigmund Freud's, and is seen as a pioneer in the development of western somatic or body therapy. Over time his views and techniques have evolved to align with contemporary values and new clinical developments.
I am very excited about the developments in neuro-biology, and I continue to train in applied neuro-biology for anxiety and trauma.
I work with other therapists when it is appropriate to refer people on to other specialists. This applies especially to work with children and families.
